New People
Artist Reception: Saturday, April 2, 3-5pm
After several years of experiencing collective and personal angst, anxiety and despair I wanted to create an aspirational body of work. The paintings in the "New People" series are meant to articulate my hopes for humanity's future rooted in love, wellness and collective care for all. Borrowing from the vocabulary of Afro-futurism, New Age mysticism, and Christian iconography, I am attempting to forge my own symbolism of peace and awareness. Working on this series also gave me permission to think differently about my palette and materials. Throughout the series you will find bright florescent colors, iridescent papers and paint paired with crystals, glass, and lights.
